Phil was born in St. Petersburg, Fl. May 8, 1954. His grandfather, father and brother were all lawyers. After graduating from St. Petersburg High in 1972, he entered Duke University and received his BA in economics in 1975. He then attended South Texas College of Law from June 1976 graduating with his JD in January 1979 when he then returned to his home town. He initially ran a family business for one year, then was employed by the municipal bond firm of Fischer, Johnson, Allen & Burke where he remained for one year. He then practiced law with the firm of Baynard, McLeod & Lang. He remained with them practicing civil litigation from 1981 until venturing out on his own in 1986. Although partnering with his friend Jim Rowan for a brief period, he has remained self employed until the present date.
Phil has been primarily practicing family and divorce law during his entire career. He is A/V rated by Martindale Hubbell (the highest rating available for professional integrity and ability). He remains a member of the St. Pete and Florida Bar associations and was former chair of the St. Pete Bar Family Law Section. He was a member of the local Florida Bar Grievance Committee and numerous other charitable/volunteer community affiliations. He is proud to be a member of the Greater St. Petersburg YMCA Board of Directors today.
Although Phil continues to practice traditional litigation based divorce law, he recognizes the efficiencies, both financial and emotional, of the Collaborative process.
Phil has been married to Doreen Dinsmore McLeod, for 30 years and they have two fabulous children in their 20s. He is a life long resident of St. Pete.
